Kailua Homes and Condos for Sale

The once sleepy little town of Kailua has awakened a bit lately, but it has managed to maintain its appealing "fun in the sun" personality. Kailua has great energy with a blend of locals and visitors sharing one of the best beaches in the world. There's also a Whole Foods, a new Target store, and an eclectic mix of small shops and restaurants. I recommend the banana mac nut pancakes at Boots & Kimo's, but be prepared to stand in line.

Years ago when I lived in Kailua, I always considered the 30 minute drive home after work as a rebirth of sorts. Leaving Honolulu, I would take the Pali Highway up into the Koolau Mountains... and as I drove through the Pali tunnel, all of the stress and difficulties of the work day were scraped off my mind and left behind. Seriously, you should try it.

Kailua is home to about 37,000 people. In addition to the Pali Highway mentioned above, the H-3 and the Likelike highway provide quick and at times scenic routes over the Koolau to Honolulu. The views while driving the H-3 are stunningly beautiful.

Kailua is a diverse community with a broad range of real estate options including condos, townhomes, beachfront properties, mansions and everything in between. Homes for sale in Kailua can sometimes be a bit higher in price compared to the median prices of Oahu. It is a highly desirable place to live. A recent check of MLS for the 96734 zip code revealed about 90 active listings ranging from a 2 bedroom condo for $470,000 to an 8 bedroom beachside mansion for $25 million.
